AXA Turkey brought its employees together for a wide-reaching programme of social impact during AXA Goodness Week, the annual AXA Group initiative held across all countries where the company operates. Over the course of the week, teams participated in 38 separate events centred on inclusive protection, climate and biodiversity, and emergency and humanitarian support. With 62 per cent of employees joining at least one activity, the organisation generated a remarkable total of 4,361 volunteer hours.
Held between 8 and 12 June, the initiative was designed to deepen the culture of volunteering and reinforce a shared commitment to social good. The event structure reflected AXA Turkey’s broader sustainability and solidarity priorities, with 12 activities dedicated to inclusive protection, seven focused on climate and biodiversity, and five aligned with emergency and humanitarian aid. Rather than limiting engagement to symbolic participation, the programme encouraged employees to contribute in practical and meaningful ways across a wide range of needs.
Volunteering That Reached Many Areas of Life
Throughout the week, employees joined hands in activities that addressed both environmental and social challenges. These included preparing end-of-term gifts for primary school students in the earthquake zone, taking part in a beach clean-up alongside Bengisu Avcı, carrying out forest cleaning efforts, and joining urban gardening projects. Staff also visited animal shelters and care homes, assembled wheelchairs, prepared and distributed hygiene kits for homeless individuals, and participated in creative workshops with children with special needs.
In addition, employees attended an AFAD earthquake simulation training session, helping strengthen disaster awareness and preparedness. The overall aim was not only to provide immediate support, but also to build long-term awareness and encourage sustained social responsibility among employees.
A Memorial of Hope in Hatay
One of the most meaningful initiatives associated with the spirit of Goodness Week was a special remembrance project carried out by AXA Turkey together with the Association of Volleyball’s Unforgettable Figures. In Samandağ, Hatay, the “Those We Have Not Forgotten in the Earthquake: The Unforgettable Sons and Daughters of Volleyball” Memorial Park was opened in memory of the 56 volleyball community members who lost their lives in the 6 February earthquakes.
The memorial park includes a remembrance wall, volleyball courts, social gathering spaces, and a children’s playground. More than a place of memory, it stands as a living symbol of solidarity, resilience, sport, and renewed hope for the local community.
Looking ahead, AXA Turkey plans to keep expanding employee volunteering, strengthening partnerships built around shared values, and supporting initiatives that contribute to a more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable future.
