Koru sigorta is digitizing its comprehensive motor insurance process using artificial intelligence

Koru sigorta is preparing to transform its ‘Vehicle-Controlled Comprehensive Motor Insurance’ model—developed to simplify access to insurance and make comprehensive motor insurance available to a wider audience—into an AI-powered digital platform by June 2026.

Under the model successfully implemented by the company to date, vehicle owners could obtain comprehensive insurance by having their vehicles undergo an inspection process at authorised inspection points. In the new phase, however, vehicle inspection processes will be moved to a digital environment and supported by artificial intelligence technologies.

Thanks to the new system, policyholders will be able to upload images of their vehicles via a digital platform. Artificial intelligence technology will analyse these images to help identify scratches, dents, cracks and similar damage on the vehicle, verify vehicle details and carry out checks to mitigate potential fraud risks. The aim is to make the assessment processes faster, more standardised and more objective.

The framework developed by Koru sigorta will offer a hybrid model rather than completely eliminating the existing physical vehicle inspection system. The company aims to achieve more reliable results by combining field experience with artificial intelligence technology.

One of the key advantages of digital transformation will be the ‘contactless inspection’ approach. Policyholders will be able to complete many processes digitally without the need for physical guidance. This is expected to lead to shorter processing times, increased operational efficiency and enhanced customer satisfaction.

The new system will also contribute to reducing future claims disputes by ensuring a more detailed record of the vehicle’s current condition at the start of the insurance policy. The aim is to establish a more robust risk assessment process by identifying inconsistencies in vehicle imagery and identifying high-risk situations.

The digitalised structure will also provide significant benefits to agents. Application, tracking, assessment and reporting processes will be managed digitally; the system is planned to integrate with SMS infrastructure and policy issuance platforms.

Commenting on the matter, Koru Sigorta General Manager Kasım Yılmaz noted that whilst there are approximately 31 million registered vehicles in Turkey, only 7 million are covered by comprehensive insurance. He stated that the primary aim of the Vehicle-Controlled Comprehensive Insurance model is not to capture a share of the existing market, but to provide cover for vehicle owners who have not yet taken out insurance.

Yılmaz stated that they have received 77,806 vehicle inspection applications to date, of which 68,858 have been approved, adding that with the new AI-supported process, they aim to enhance the customer experience and connect more vehicle owners with comprehensive insurance.

With the new digital vehicle inspection system set to be launched in June, Koru Sigorta aims to both increase operational efficiency and contribute to the wider adoption of artificial intelligence and digitalisation applications within the insurance sector.
