Message from Gökhan Gürcan, Chairman of Bupa Türkiye, on World Health Day

Gökhan Gürcan, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Bupa Türkiye, emphasised the need to address health through a holistic, accessible and sustainable approach. Founded in 1947 and operating in over 40 countries, Bupa serves more than 68 million customers worldwide. As a non-profit organisation, it channels its revenues into healthcare investments.

Since 2019, Bupa Türkiye has been providing end-to-end support for individuals’ health journeys through its integrated structure, which encompasses insurance, digital health, dental care, workplace and home care services.

Holistic Health Vision

Gökhan Gürcan stated that they do not view health as limited solely to the treatment process, emphasising that health is a strategic value encompassing every moment of an individual’s life, the well-being of communities, and the sustainability of the planet. Gürcan highlighted that the healthcare sector is being reshaped by technology, data and integrated models.

Bupa Türkiye aims to create an accessible and sustainable healthcare ecosystem during this transformation process. Gürcan stated that they aim to enhance the quality of life for both individuals and society by combining global expertise with integrated healthcare services in Turkey.

Preventive and Proactive Healthcare Services

Preventive and proactive healthcare services lie at the heart of the company’s strategy. The integrated structure encompasses the brands Bupa Acıbadem Sigorta, senCard, Wellpoint and Blua. This structure enables the provision of comprehensive and seamless services to both individual and corporate customers.

Healthy Individuals, Healthy Societies and the Planet

Gökhan Gürcan emphasised the importance of social impact and environmental sustainability, noting that healthy individuals can only exist within healthy societies and environments. The Healthy Cities programme, run on a global scale, was held in Türkiye for the third time.

With a total of 1,700 participants and 7 partners, the programme saw participants aiming to take 6,000 steps a day. By the end of the event, a total of 232 million steps had been taken, whilst 250,000 seed balls were sent to areas in Muğla affected by forest fires. In this context, both an active lifestyle was encouraged and a contribution was made to nature.
