Fiat is preparing to bring the Doblo back to domestic production in Türkiye, with manufacturing set to restart at the Tofaş plant in Bursa in the third quarter of 2026. The model’s production had been transferred to Spain in 2022, but the new decision marks a major shift for the brand’s commercial vehicle strategy.
According to Fiat Brand Director Altan Aytaç, returning the Doblo to Bursa will provide notable sales and logistics advantages. The move is expected to reinforce Fiat’s position in the light commercial vehicle segment while supporting broader growth targets in the market.
Large-Scale Investment for New Generation Production
Under the agreement between Tofaş and Stellantis, up to 256 million euros will be invested in the production of K9-coded light commercial vehicles. With this new phase, the Bursa facility is expected to reach an annual production capacity of 150,000 units.

Vehicles produced within this program will serve multiple Stellantis brands, including Fiat, Opel, Citroën and Peugeot. In addition, the Bursa plant will assume global production responsibility for the 1-tonne light commercial vehicles identified as the K0 project for Stellantis.
This development positions Bursa as a key production center within the group’s international commercial vehicle network.
Export Plans Extend to North America
A significant portion of the vehicles manufactured under the new initiative will be directed to export markets. Starting from the second half of 2027, around 230,000 units are planned to be shipped to North America, where they will be sold as the Ram ProMaster City.
This export target reflects not only the scale of the investment but also the strategic importance of the Bursa plant in Stellantis’ long-term global operations.
A Model with Strong Roots in the Turkish Market
The Fiat Doblo first entered production in Bursa in 2000 and has recorded more than 600,000 sales in Türkiye over the past 25 years. What began as a modest project evolved into one of the pioneering models of the light commercial vehicle market, supported by major renewals and successive generations over time.
The Doblo has remained especially valuable for small businesses and commercial users thanks to its practical structure and versatile design options. Cargo, Combi and Panorama body styles helped the model appeal to a broad customer base.
Recent Import Period and Electric Variant Success
Production at Tofaş ended in 2023, after which the fifth and sixth generations continued to be sold in Türkiye as imported models under the Stellantis umbrella. Even during this transition period, the Doblo name maintained its presence in the market.
Tofaş also contributed to the model’s development through strong research and development efforts. The electric Doblo Cargo, introduced in 2019 with a driving range of 210 kilometers, stood out as a successful addition to the lineup.
With production set to resume in 2026, the Doblo is preparing for a new chapter on the very assembly lines where its story first began.
