Aon Names Steve Dando to Lead Broking Strategy for Global Broking Center

Aon has selected Steve Dando as the new Chief Broking Officer for its Global Broking Center, with the appointment taking effect on 1 July. In this position, he will help define the broking direction of the London-based business, which serves as Aon’s wholesale and specialty broking platform.

His responsibilities will include deepening insurer and market relationships while bringing together analytics, capital insight and global specialist expertise to create more effective risk transfer solutions for clients facing increasingly complex challenges.

Before taking on this role, Dando led Aon’s Strategy and Technology Group and Inpoint across the UK and EMEA as CEO. In that post, he oversaw around 350 professionals working across advisory, analytics and portfolio strategy disciplines.

Earlier in his career, he served as Global Head of Broking at The Ardonagh Group, where he developed and led the company’s broking and carrier management approach. He has also held positions at other major insurance brokers, adding further market experience to his background.

A Key Role Within Aon’s London Market Strategy

Aon described the Global Broking Center as a major part of its worldwide operating model, connecting the firm’s international capabilities with the London market. The business is known for arranging complex placements, providing informed risk transfer guidance and delivering claims expertise designed to improve client outcomes.

The company also pointed to the center’s role in building specialized solutions across key lines of business. These include proprietary facilities such as Aon Client Treaty, which offers clients access to pre-secured Lloyd’s-backed capacity, and Aon’s Data Center Lifecycle Insurance Program, a multi-line offering created to address interconnected risks across the full life of an asset.

Leadership Perspective on the Appointment

Dando will report to Global Broking Center CEO Helene Madell. Commenting on the appointment, Madell said he is well respected throughout the London market and brings strong credibility with both clients and business partners. She added that his leadership will support the continued development of the center as a trusted and forward-looking partner in a changing market environment.

Dando said he is honored to step into the role at a significant moment for both clients and the broader industry. He noted that as risk becomes more connected and complicated, the need for insight, certainty and advocacy is rising. According to him, the priority will be to combine Aon’s global capabilities with data-driven intelligence to help clients manage this environment and secure stronger outcomes.
