Allianz Türkiye and the Koruncuk Foundation have expanded their long-term support initiative for girls impacted by the 6 February earthquakes with the opening of a newly built dormitory in Bolluca, Istanbul. Created under the “A Girl’s Future” programme, the new residence is designed to offer a safer and more supportive environment where girls can continue their education and rebuild their lives.
Backed by nearly 3 million euros in funding from Allianz Türkiye and the Allianz Group, the facility strengthens the Koruncuk Foundation’s capacity to deliver accommodation, education, and psychosocial support to a greater number of beneficiaries. The project reflects a long-term commitment to helping girls move forward with stability, care, and opportunity.
A purpose-built residence completed in 13 months
Situated on the Istanbul Bolluca Campus, the new dormitory was completed in just 13 months and spans 2,230 square metres. The building includes living areas, communal spaces, social and relaxation zones, a library, and a dining hall, creating a setting that supports both daily life and personal development.
The opening ceremony brought together prominent representatives from public institutions, Allianz, and the Koruncuk Foundation. Among those in attendance were Arnavutköy District Governor Mahmut Hersanlıoğlu, Deputy Mayor Gökhan Kurt, Allianz Türkiye CEO Tolga Gürkan, Allianz Group Board Member Sirma Boshnakova, and Koruncuk Foundation Chair Av. Dr. Figen Samuray, along with many invited guests.
Broader support for education and personal development
Through the programme, the accommodation, education, socio-economic assistance, and psychosocial counselling needs of 25 girls affected by the earthquake have been met over the last four years. In addition, 43 university students have received scholarships, internship opportunities, and personal development support to help them continue their academic and professional journeys.
The initiative also includes a mentoring model supported by Allianz employees on a voluntary basis. Through one-to-one guidance, 17 girls have benefited from mentoring support aimed at strengthening confidence, direction, and personal growth.
With this new residence, the programme continues to focus not only on schooling but also on helping girls build their futures as empowered, independent, and resilient individuals.
