A TARSİM delegation headed by Board Member and Agricultural Insurance Pool General Manager Bekir Engürülü traveled to Tekirdağ on 15 July to examine the agricultural losses caused by recent hail and strong winds. During the field visit, the team observed the effects of the weather event directly and spoke with local producers whose crops were impacted.
Joining the programme, Tekirdağ Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Mehmet Aksoy also took part in on-site inspections. The delegation reviewed damage in sunflower, wheat, and watermelon fields where harvesting had not yet been completed, while receiving updates from TARSİM Regional Directorate officials and technical experts overseeing the assessment process.
Direct Field Inspections and Farmer Meetings
The inspection was carried out together with farmers in the affected areas, allowing officials to evaluate the scale of the destruction more closely. Bekir Engürülü listened to producers’ concerns, requests, and questions, and reaffirmed that TARSİM continues to support farmers following natural disasters.
Engürülü emphasized that climate-related threats are becoming more severe for agricultural production with each passing year. He called on producers to give greater importance to agricultural insurance as a way to reduce the financial impact of increasingly frequent extreme weather events.
Damage Assessment Continues
Expressing his sympathy to all producers affected by the disaster, Engürülü said the damage assessment process is being conducted with great care. Officials continue their work in the region to determine the extent of losses and ensure that the necessary procedures move forward properly.
