Swiss Re Names Martin Zingg to Lead Alternative Capital Partners in 2026 Leadership Transition

Swiss Re has selected Martin Zingg to take over leadership of its Alternative Capital Partners division, marking a planned transition as long-serving executive Chris Minter prepares to retire after nearly 13 years with the company. The appointment expands Zingg’s remit beyond his current post as Group Head Corporate Developments & Strategic Investments, underscoring the company’s closer alignment between strategic growth initiatives and alternative capital activities.

Based in New York, Zingg will assume the updated title of Group Head Corporate Development and Capital Markets, with the change set to take effect on 1 July 2026. Swiss Re indicated that the move reflects the increasing connection between corporate development priorities and capital markets strategy across the business.

With more than three decades of international experience, Zingg brings a background spanning insurance asset management, corporate development, and capital markets. Swiss Re highlighted his experience in overseeing asset portfolios and executing sophisticated financial transactions, including acquisitions, strategic partnerships, and alternative capital structures.

Leadership Change Follows a Period of Growth

Chris Minter leaves the role after guiding Alternative Capital Partners through a significant phase of development. During his tenure, the unit advanced several major initiatives, including the consolidation of third-party investment management operations within a single regulated entity and the integration of co-investment management for GAM’s ILS funds beginning in September 2024.

Swiss Re reported that, under Minter’s leadership, insurance-linked securities assets under management increased from about $5 billion to $7.6 billion. Over the same period, Swiss Re Capital Markets completed 26 ILS transactions with a combined notional value of $7.4 billion, reflecting the scale of expansion achieved by the platform.

Before joining Swiss Re in 2013, Minter spent more than a decade at Deutsche Bank, where he held senior positions including Global Head and CEO of DB Private Equity.
