Impactful Dialogue at 20th Real Estate Summit: Industry Leaders Unite on Key Issues

Ahmet Yaşar, President of the Turkish Insurance Association (TSB), underscored the importance of trust, financing, and sustainability at the 20th Real Estate Summit hosted by GYODER. He expressed that these elements are critical where the insurance and real estate sectors converge. This event, conducted under the motif ‘Changing the Question’ at the Zorlu Centre for the Performing Arts, convened prominent figures from both the public and private sectors, as well as representatives from civil society organisations.

The summit featured noteworthy attendees like TSB President Ahmet Yaşar, GYODER Board Chair Neşecan Çekici, Deputy Minister of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change Ömer Bulut, along with Istanbul Chamber of Commerce President Şekib Avdagiç, and various key stakeholders.

Ahmet Yaşar stressed the necessity of fostering resilient urban areas and infrastructures. He pointed out that there are significant protection shortcomings not only against earthquake risks but also related to the secondary dangers defined as the ‘new normal’ due to evolving climate processes. Yaşar suggested that these protective gaps could be mitigated through effective insurance solutions, emphasizing the vital role of collaborative efforts across different sectors.

Addressing the summit opening, Neşecan Çekici, who leads GYODER’s Board of Directors, expressed that this assembly exceeds a mere meeting; it represents a crucial call to reassess the sector’s trajectory by posing the correct questions. She called for a shift in perspective — to ‘reframe the question’ — aiming for more accessible housing solutions, cohesive financial systems, and safer urban environments.

Throughout the day, engaging panels and sessions explore themes such as urban renewal, economic cycles, the integration of artificial intelligence and data centres, the principles of a circular economy, and the innovative living spaces envisioned for the future.
