Empowering Young Girls Through the Magic of Skiing in Palandöken

Allianz Turkey, serving as the Global Insurance Partner for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, has brought the powerful stories of young, ambitious girls from the foothills of Mount Palandöken to life in the documentary film ‘We’re Behind You Like a Mountain.’ This project offers a captivating look into the lives of girls who are experiencing skiing for the first time. Viewers join them on their transformative journey from their initial trepidation to their dreams taking flight.
A collaborative effort with the Palandöken Ski and Snowboard Academy (PAKA), this initiative is committed to offering continuing training and equipment support for these budding athletes. During the film’s six months of production, the team documented the experiences of 111 children, recording an impressive 62 hours of footage. Through a personal narrative lens focusing on three pivotal children, the documentary delivers an authentic glimpse into their lives, capturing heartfelt family interactions, the excitement of the children’s first ski lessons, and their journey toward their dreams.

The moving score, crafted by Evren Karakul, with its three original compositions, deepens the film’s emotional resonance. An even more comprehensive version is currently being produced to reach international film festivals, solidifying this project’s commitment to decreasing barriers and increasing opportunities for girls in sports.

This isn’t Just a Sports Documentary; It’s a Transformation Story

Onur Kırcı, Allianz Türkiye’s Deputy General Manager of Marketing and Digital Insurance, reflects on the project by stating, “The essence of ‘We’re Behind You Like a Mountain‘ extends beyond traditional corporate social responsibility. It is a narrative focused on creating equal opportunities, showcasing the latent potential of these girls, and supporting them on their path to realizing their dreams—a small yet impactful transformation beginning at Palandöken.” With this film, Allianz aims to inspire more to follow in their footsteps. This documentary does not solely belong to Erzurum’s children but speaks to every girl with a dream, offering encouragement to take that crucial initial step.
